Chemical properties: Dissolved in water, release a lot of heat, the formation of metaphosphate, then into orthophosphate. Absorb moisture and moisture in the air. Combustion occurs in contact with organic matter. Exposure to organic matter poses a burning hazard. Heat or moisture release heat, release toxic corrosive smoke. It is highly corrosive.
Use:
1, used as a desiccant of gas and liquid; Organic synthesis of dehydrating agent, polyester resin antistatic agent, drugs and sugar refined preparation. It is the parent material for producing high purity phosphoric acid, phosphate, phosphide and phosphate ester.
2. It can also be used for the manufacture of phosphorus pentoxide sol and H-type aerosol.
3. Used for the manufacture of optical glass, ultraviolet glass, heat insulation glass, glass-ceramics and milky glass, so as to improve the dispersion coefficient of glass and the ability of ultraviolet transmission. Used as desiccant, dehydrating agent, sugar refined preparation, and used for preparation of phosphoric acid, phosphorus compounds and aerosols used as semiconductor silicon doping source, dehydration desiccant, organic synthesis shrinkage agent and surfactant. It is often used in junior chemistry to test the mass fraction of oxygen in the air.
4. Phosphorus pentoxide is mainly used as desiccant, dehydrating agent of organic synthesis and catalytic reagent of ring closing reaction. Nitrile can be prepared by dehydration of amide with phosphorus pentoxide. A high yield of nitrile can be obtained by co-distillation of unsubstituted amide and excess phosphorus pentoxide. Many reactions are performed without solvents, sometimes with high boiling solvents. Catalyzed rearrangement reaction 10% concentration of phosphorus pentoxide mesylate solution (Eaton reagent) is an effective acidic cyclating reagent and can be used as an effective substitute for polyphosphate (PPA), e.g. for Beckman rearrangement. Eaton reagent can also promote conjugate unsaturated alkyne ring closure. Dehydration cyclization reaction P2O5 can dehydrate the reactant and cyclization at high temperature, which is an important method to prepare isoquinoline. P2O5 is also a very effective catalyst for the synthesis of alicyclic compounds. Phosphoric acid is sometimes added to facilitate the clogging process. Synthesis of nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds by heating phosphorus pentoxide and nitrogenous ketone or alcohol is a general method of synthesis of nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds. Synthetic iodide catalyzed by phosphoric acid/phosphorus pentoxide,Primary alcohols react with KI to obtain 1-iodide.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. The temperature of the storage room shall not exceed 25℃, and the relative humidity shall not exceed 75%. The package must be sealed and protected from moisture. It should be stored separately from active metal powder, alkali, peroxide, alcohol and so on, and do not mix storage. The storage area should be equipped with suitable materials to contain leaks.
